Day 1: Arrival in Merzouga and Camel Trek to Desert Camp
The 3-night camel ride in Merzouga starts at around 4 PM at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes, where your camel awaits. From here, we begin the trek into the Sahara. As the camels move across the soft sand, enjoy the silence, the golden light, and the calm of the desert.
We stop on a tall dune to watch the sunset as the sky shifts from orange to deep gold. It’s a perfect time for photos or a quiet moment to enjoy the view.
After sunset, we continue to the desert camp. You’ll be welcomed with mint tea and shown to your private tent. The camp is simple and cozy, set among the dunes.
Dinner is served by the fire with traditional Berber dishes prepared fresh at camp. Later, enjoy music, drumming, and the clear, starlit sky.
Day 2: Desert Exploration and Oasis Visit
After breakfast at the camp, we continue our camel trek, this time heading deeper into the dunes toward a palm-shaded oasis. We’ll spend the day relaxing, sipping tea, and exploring the sand at your own pace. If you’d like, take a short walk or try sandboarding on the nearby slopes.
As the evening nears, we climb a nearby dune to watch the sunset—a simple but unforgettable scene across the golden sands.
We return to the camp afterward. Dinner is served, followed by some time around the fire with traditional music and stories before resting for the night.
Day 3: Trek to a Touareg Family and Nomad Experience
We start the day with a camel trek toward a Touareg area in the desert. Along the way, we stop for lunch under the shade of a tamarisk tree, native to the land. It’s a calm spot to rest before we continue.
After lunch, we make our way to a traditional Touareg family home. You’ll spend some time learning about their customs, music, and way of life.
From there, we continue toward a small oasis deeper in the desert. We spend the night with a Berber nomad family, sharing stories and enjoying a lively drum gathering under the open night sky.
Day 4: Nomadic Life & Return to Merzouga
We’ll wake early to watch the sunrise from the top of a nearby dune. As the first light spreads across the sand, you can enjoy a quiet moment or take a few photos.
Afterward, breakfast is served at the camp. You can take a refreshing shower to prepare for the journey before we head back.
When you’re ready, we’ll start for Merzouga. You can ride the camels again if you’d like, or choose a 4×4 for a faster and more relaxed return. Our arrival in Merzouga marks the ending of this 3-night camel trek in Morocco.

- Camel riding times: Expect short to moderate rides most days (around 1–2 hours at a time), with plenty of stops and relaxed pacing.
- Meals & diet: vegetarian and special dietary options are available, but please advise upon booking.
- Luggage: Bring a small overnight bag for the trek (water, layers, camera); larger suitcases usually stay safely in Merzouga.
- Packing essentials: Light layers plus a warm fleece/jacket, closed shoes, scarf/buff, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, wet wipes, and a power bank.
- Desert temperature: Even when days are hot, nights can be cool or cold—especially in winter. Pack proper nightwear and socks.

is there electricity at the desert camp?
Basic solar-powered electricity is available for lighting, but there are no power outlets in the tents. It’s best to bring a fully charged phone and a portable power bank.
what we got:
- car did not have good working AC. Most of the times we had open windows!
- our driver was not a guide, so not much information was passed to us while in the car.
- several times we were not driven to the hotel, but had to walk from medina gates to hotel and was told to pay for transferring our luggage. This was going on untill we showed our contract stating that all these is included. No, we did not get our money back.
- with the few exceptions, we were staying in Medinas. Some hotels were nice, some OK, but few simply horrible. Non working AC, broken safe, dirty and filthy. One hotel was so awful that we refused to stay in it: no working AC, no light in the sink area, shower stall completely covered with mold, electrical switch sticking out from the wall....Last drop was on out last day: our driver asked if he can leave us ( it was a holiday comming up and he wanted help his family to prepare) and call taxi to drive us to the airport next day. We agreed, but put one condition: taxi must have AC. He promise. Next day when taxi came, I asked about AC and driver say "Yes". When we got in a car, he open the window. When I asked to turn AC on, he pointed to the window....
