2 Days Tour From Fes to Marrakech Itinerary
Below is the complete 2 days tour from Fes to Marrakech itinerary:
Day 1: From Fes to Erg Chebbi
Our driver will pick you up early in the morning from Fes to begin your Fes to Marrakech desert tour 2 days south through the Middle Atlas Mountains. The road passes through forested areas and small mountain towns, with changing scenery along the way.
We’ll make an optional stop in Ifrane, known for its clean streets and European-style buildings. From here, we continue toward Azrou, where the cedar forest is home to Barbary macaques. You’ll have time for a short walk and photos before getting back on the road.
The journey continues toward Midelt, a mountain town located between the Middle and High Atlas ranges. This is usually where we stop for lunch and take a short break before continuing the drive.
In the afternoon, we head toward the southeast and pass through the Ziz Valley, a long stretch of palm groves following the river. We then make a brief stop in Erfoud, a town known for fossils and desert-related crafts, and often considered the gateway to the Sahara.
By late afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga, where the dunes of Erg Chebbi rise just outside the village. After meeting your desert guide, you’ll begin a camel trek into the dunes. The day ends with dinner and an overnight stay at a desert camp.
Day 2: Erg Chebbi & Return to Marrakech
On the second day, waking up early is recommended to watch the magical sunrise over the dunes. You can walk up a nearby dune or enjoy the view from the camp. After sunrise, we ride camels back to the hotel for breakfast and leave for Marrakech.
Leaving Merzouga, we’ll pass through the Tafilalet palm groves, one of Morocco’s largest oasis regions. The road runs alongside small villages, old kasbahs, and irrigated farmland before reaching Rissani.
The desert trip continues through Alnif, Tazarine, and N’kob, crossing dry landscapes and quiet Berber towns along the Anti-Atlas foothills. We’ll take short breaks along the way to rest and take photos.
Later, we follow the Draa Valley, a long stretch of palm groves and fortified villages along the river. By early afternoon, we arrive in Ouarzazate for lunch near the Taourirt Kasbah. We then visit Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO-listed ksar where you’ll have time to explore the village and enjoy views of the area.
In the late afternoon, we drive through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass. After reaching Marrakech in the early evening, you’ll be dropped off at your accommodation.
