Ait Benhaddou day tour from Marrakech
My wife and I lately booked a 1-day trip Marrakech to Ait Benhaddou kasbah via the Ounila river valley and Telouet (highly recommend going to Ait Benhaddou this way). Our driver, Youssef, was excellent. He arrived at our Riad on time, very secure driver, spoke English properly, and was very informative about the Atlas Mountains and the Kasbahs.
He provided us good information on their heritage which helped us appreciate the sites even more. He gave us tours of the Kasbah in Telouet and led us all the thanks to the highest of Ait Benhaddou, so we didn't get to pay any extra for guides at either place.
Best Day excursion to Ouarzazate and Ait Benhaddou kasbah
In addition to the historic villages and Kasbahs, Omar, our driver, also brought us to a number of co-ops where we could see where some of Morocco's main goods are made (Berber silver, carpets, argan).
We enjoyed seeing the co-ops but sometimes we felt awkward because we weren't sure if we were obliged to shop for something. Omar did help us barter at one place, so you can do your shopping while sightseeing (although as with everything in Morocco, I have no clue if we got a good deal).
Overall, we had a great trip with Omar.
Full-Day Tour to Telouet and Ait Benhaddou
The pick from our Riad was prompt as promised at 8:30 AM. There was just one other family in our van beside us. It is often an extended day due to the 4-hour journey, especially through the Atlas Mountains. Our guide, Hassan kept it lively giving information about Morocco.
Seeing the movie sets in Ouarzazate and therefore the historical site of Ait Ben Haddou made the long drive worthwhile. The local restaurant suggested by Hassan for lunch was fair and clean.
We were dropped off at our Riad by 6:25 PM. Overall, it had been an excellent excursion from Marrakech and something that ought to be seen while visiting Morocco.
