Great Overnight Camel Trekking Merzouga Desert

We did a camel trek with overnight in the desert. I set it up way in advance with Said who was very responsive. He even helped me with planning the rest of the Morocco trip. He met us at the designated spot from where we drove to the hotel. Since we had 3 hrs before the start of the trek he let us use the swimming pool. Kids especially loved seeing the herd of camels while swimming.

The trek itself was great. I was surprised that my 7 yr old rode his own camel but he loved that. Hassan was very helpful the whole time, even stopped to take pictures of us all. The tents we slept in were luxurious.

I was shocked. I anticipated very basic accommodations but instead, we had a full suite, with a shower, toilet, electricity, huge dining tent, sitting couches and chairs outside, fire pit, even chairs on top of dunes (Little prince style).

Food was very good, plenty of water available for all, music and dancing to Berber/Nomad tunes. Views were of course spectacular. Highly recommend booking with MTA. We will be back during the cooler month to do a 2 night Camel trek.

Overnight in a Berber Tent after a camel trek!!!

This was an amazing experience; we rode a camel for 2 hours at sunset, then we ate Tajine and after the same chat with Hassan (a very nice guide, could help to understand a little more the berbere culture), we went to sleep under the stars (it was quite warm at night), then we wake up early in the morning to go back to Hassi Lbaied and stopped in the middle of nothing just to see the sunrise behind the dunes.

Highy recommend this experience with these people!

Dunes Right Outside of Lodging

The beautiful Sahara, Erg Chebbi, Morocco's very own part of the Sahara Desert. It really is beautiful.

We did the compulsory overnight in the desert and it was fantastic, climbing the dunes, watching the sunset and sunrise, and if your game staying up really late in the hope of shooting stars.

Wow. Watch the night stars, and ride a camel at sunrise over the dunes.

Total Bucket List Experience.

Since this is such a remote location, I would highly recommend watching the night stars. They are untouched by any urban light pollution. At daybreak, ride a camel to watch sunrise over the sand dunes.

Our Berber guides were fantastic; they took many pictures of us with our camels, wrote our names in Arabic in the sand, and took their time explaining their lifestyle and culture to ignorant Americans.

Truly a magical, once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Thanks for everything.

Beautiful night in dunes Erg Chebbi

If you stay in Erfoud take a trip to Erg Chebbi. If you have a rent a car, you can drive to the small village of Hassi Labied before Merzouga, stay there for 2 nights and explore these beautiful dunes. Try good food by Berbers and enjoy nature!.

Highly recommend this Overnight Camel Trekking Merzouga
